
The founder of İbrahim Etem was born in 1880 in İstanbul, he completed his education at one of the most successful schools in Istanbul; first Mekteb-i Osmani and then Mülkiye Rüşdiyesi, Tıbbiye İdadisi and Mekteb-i Tıbbiye-i Şahane and then he got his medical diploma in 1903. After graduation, he performed as doctor at important hospitals and he sustained his laboratory works in Gulhane as head assistant simultaneously. When he completed his duty in Gülhane, he got not only a doctor title but also a chemist title. He was promoted to Laboratory Chief at Darulfünun Medical Faculty.
Throughout his successful professional life, İbrahim Etem kept expanding medicine production and at the same time he worked for Istanbul’s most important hospitals such as Haseki Hospital and Numune Hospital. Also, he had outstanding success when he worked as laboratory chief at Mekteb-i Tıbbiye-i Şahane Kürsüsü, which was transformed medical faculty, and head chemist at Darphane-i Amirane. When Ibrahim Etem passed away in 1943, the number of licensed medicines was 19. His four sons sustained to carry the flag he gave to them sacrificingly and successfully.
